My wife and daughter have both been stricken and overcome this dreadful disease. My daughter asked her medical doctor to perform preventative surgery twice. On the cancer threat and the BRCA1 gene she inherited from my wife and her family the doctor played GOD and denied her. It was less than four years later that she found her cancer and had the surgeries and the chemotherapy. The chemotherapy at the least could have been avoided and the trauma and fear inflicted on her young children could have been avoided.
The medical and insurance communities need to grow up and not be smug about their role in the lives of their patients

The more things change the more they stay the same. A common expression isn’t it? Well I also want to repeat that “continuing to do what you have always done while expecting different results is insanity.” We seem to have reached a level of social equilibrium in our parts businesses. We are continuing to do the same things and the results continue to be the same.
Isn’t it time we break out into new things?
We need talented people – so provide them training. Classroom training, webinars, self-study programs – either on the internet or from books are available at your suppliers, your business associations and other professional sources. Are you taking advantage of them?

In the last Musing we touched on Leadership. This subject is worth pursuing a bit further. Leaders rarely are born. People become a leader – they are given the role of a leader by their team members. This is not something that is commonly believed. Many feel there is a “royal jelly” that is on some people. Well perhaps that is true sometime but in my experience it is rare. For example – some people are wonderful conversationalists in the eyes of other people at a party but typically this is the person that have listened the most. This is also true with leaders. Leaders rarely have to show off their position… they live it. They enjoy the success of their team members in fact they set the team members up to succeed.
They also become expert in their Industry. They are students of their Industry and are constantly learning. Who is growing sales and who is not? What new developments are there and where are the threats. They are constantly on the lookout for the new and the unexpected.
They are also constantly growing. They read obsessively. They are also involved in other activities from charities to schools and churches. They believe that the moment they stop growing will be the end of their leadership. You can see examples of these people in all walks of life. Are you a leader? The time is now.
After our first four months into the blogosphere and input from several respected people we are going to begin a more predictable and we hope a more useful structure for the blog.
We will continue with some of the staples such as Friday Folosophy and Book of the Week but we will begin to feature a Parts Blog, a Service, a Product Support Selling & Marketing Blog and a Management Blog. Each of them will be done weekly and will be on the same day each week. We hope you will enjoy and benefit from this new structure and we would welcome and thoughts you might have on it. The time is now.
